Adult Enrichment

In addition to vibrant celebrations of liturgy each week, Our Lady of the Lake offers many opportunities for adults to continue the life-long task of continuing faith development through bulletin articles and inserts, links on the Parish Website, seasonal faith sharing groups, parent meetings, and adult enrichment sessions.

CCD Classes

When bringing their children for Baptism, parents assumed the responsibility to educate and form them in the faith. To assist parents in fulfilling this responsibility, Our Lady of the Lake provides catechetical sessions from September through May. It is expected that regular attendance and active participation in these classes will continue each year, through elementary, intermediate, and high school grades. As each year’s curriculum builds upon that of the previous year, it is important that there be no interruptions in catechesis.

In the event that there has been a delay or interruption in catechesis, we will work with families to help the children begin or build upon their present level of faith formation. Please note that the diocesan regulations mandate at least two years preparation before the celebration of the Sacraments.

CCD students are expected to attend weekend Mass with their families as part of their continuing faith formation.

Pre-K/K Classes

Mission Statement

“As children of God, we are called to be symbols of Jesus to one another.  Our mission is to celebrate the family of God through age-appropriate faith building experiences in Scripture, prayer, and worship, service, and Christian fellowship.  As a welcoming faith community, where parents can speak naturally and simply about God and their faith, we hope to nurture in the 4 & 5 year old children of our Parish Family a sense of belonging.”

Classes meet on Sunday mornings from 10:20 – 11:30 A.M.   Participation in the Pre K/K program is not required for enrollment in the First Grade classes.  Since the program does offer the opportunity for the children to learn about the message proclaimed in the Sunday Scriptures proclaimed at Mass that day and to share that experience with their families, we encourage parents to enroll their children.

 Elementary Classes (Grades 1-5)

Mission Statement

“Our mission is to proclaim the Message of Jesus and the traditional teachings of His Church in such a way that these can be understood and appreciated by each person at his particular stage of development; to nurture a sense of Community as a People of God united by that Message; to provide opportunities to celebrate and reflect on the Message through Worship; to motivate each other to Mission, responding to Jesus through acts of Service, following His example.”

Class options for Grades 1-5 are on Sunday mornings from 9:05 – 10:15 A.M. and on Wednesday afternoons from 4- 5:15 P.M.  For those enrolled in the afternoon classes, the school district provides transportation from Tobyhanna Elementary Center.  (Students attending other elementary buildings must be transported to the church by parents.)

Intermediate Classes (Jr. Youth Group ~ Grades 6,7 & 8)

Secondary Sessions (Sr. Youth Group ~ Grades 9-12)

Mission Statement

“The primary aim of adolescent catechesis is to sponsor youth toward maturity in catholic Christian faith as a living reality.  We adults guide, challenge, affirm, and encourage youth in their journey toward maturity in faith.  We have two tasks: to foster in youth a communal identity as Catholic Christians and to help them develop their own personal faith identity.”                                                     (The Challenge of Adolescent Catechesis)

There are two options for Junior Youth Group Classes – Sunday mornings from 11:45 A.M. - 1 P.M. and Sunday evenings from 6:45 – 8 P.M. Please note that Confirmation Classes will meet an additional 15 minutes.

Senior Youth Group meet on Sunday evenings according to a schedule formulated at the first session.  The Senior Youth Group experience will include social, service, prayer, and catechetical components.

 RCIA

Te Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults is the process through which persons who desire to become members of the Catholic Church are welcomed into a process of inquiry and formation.  It is open to those who have never been baptized, those baptized in another Christian Church, and those baptized as infants in the Catholic Church who have not received further catechetical formation.

Older children who have not been baptized will prepare for the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist) through an adapted RCIA process.

The RCIA team consists of the Pastor, RCIA Coordinator, catechists, and sponsors.

Mass Schedule
